Abstract
PURPOSE: To ensure smooth operation of bearing, by employing an intermediate resin liner made of resin having a low softening point, a high heat conductivity and a coefficient of thermal expansion greater than that of steel, and forming a thermal clearance between the inner liner and the intermediate resin liner.
CONSTITUTION: Wear-resisting resin liner 3 is formed by extruding wear-resisting resin into the space formed between outer ring 1 and spherical inner ring 2 of a spherical plain bearing. In this state, there is no clearance between the inner and the outer rings and it could be called negative clearance. After fixing the above bearing, for instance, on a rotatable shaft 5, it is rapidly heated from the outside thereof for an extremely short while by means of high-frequency induction heating coil 4 and then cooled. As the result of cooling, molten resin sticks onto the inner surface of outer ring 1 and at the same time it is contracted in the direction of its thickness, thereby developing a clearance between inner ring 2 and the resin liner. Here, 0.02 0.03mm of clearance is generally sufficient for smooth relative movement of the resin liner and the spherical inner ring. By suitably selecting the temperature for heating the outer ring, cooling time and thickness of the resin liner, it will be possible to obtain a required clearance.
