Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate maintenance and inspection of steam turbine, by assembling in one unit an emergency means for stopping operation of turbine safely at the time of emergency by closing a main steam stopping valve and a speed-relay shut-off valve capable of opening and closing a steam adjustment valve at the time of adjustment while main steam valve being closed.
CONSTITUTION: Safety device 3, having an emergency means and a speed-relay shut-off valve assembled in one unit, comprises a valve sleeve 8 fitted in axially slidable manner in cylinder 6 of main body 5 and a spool valve 14 fitted in axially slidable manner in the cylinder 6 and having three valve elements 11W13 spaced axially from each other. Valve shaft 15 of the spool valve 14 is normally held in engagement with trip finger 19 at its right-side end portion. At the time of emer gency like tripping, rotary protruding metal 20 comes into abutment with arm 19a of trip finger 19 so that trip finger 19 is disengaged from valve shaft 15. Passage 23 is connected to conduit 22 which is communicated to speed relay 2 and starter, and the relay 2 is in turn connected to steam adjustment valve 1. Further, passage 27 is communicated to main-steam stopping valve 4.
