Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the roughening, tiering, hash-mark of film formed by electrodeposition as well as raise the throwing power of film by activating the electrodepositional behavior of resin cations in the neighborhood or interfaces of an object to be coated, e.g., automobile body, etc., by application of a supersonic vibration to an electrodeposition bath being applied with voltage.
CONSTITUTION: Negative voltage is applied to the automobile body 26 delivered from the conveyer 30 to the direction of the arrow mark through the feeder 34 from the feeding bar 32, and on the other hand, positive voltage is applied to the anode plate 36. Then, the body 26 is dipped in the electrodeposition coating bath 20, where a supersonic vibration from the supersonic ascillator 42 is applied to the bath 20 through the vibrator 48 immediately before or at the same time as dipping a part of the boty 26 in the bath 20. Then, the body 26 is passed in order through the inlet portion E, the central portion M of the bath, and the outlet portion O of the bath. In this method, gas bubbles generated from the surface, etc., of the object to be coated are separated and then finely divided to go up into the air, thus eliminating pinholes on the coated film.
