Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce staples, which have exposed top surfaces or are coated completely with insulating films, at a producer's disposal, by applying a coating liquid onto the top surface of the staple and controlling the injection of air onto the top surface.
CONSTITUTION: Staples S are aligned on a conveyer 3 through feeders 4, 6, and 8. The top surface of the staples S is coated with an insulating film in a liquid bath 10. Air is injected onto the top surface coated with the insulating film by an air injector 13. The thickness of the insulating film is controlled by changing the injection pressure of the air. In order to produce the staples whose top surfaces are exposed, the air injection pressure is maintained at a higher level. In order to produce the staples which are completely coated with the insulating film, the air injection pressure is maintained at a lower level. Thereafter, the staples are carried to a gelation furnace, where the insulating film is gelatinated, and detached from the conveyer with a separating nail 16.
