NEW MATERIAL:A hetero bicyclic compound of formula I (R1 is H or lower alkyl group; R2 is aryl lower alkyl, or aralkyl group).
EXAMPLE: (3S,7S)-3-Methyl-10-phenyl-5,9-dithia-1-azabicyclo[ 5,3,0 ]decane-2,6- dione.
USE: Remedies for hypertension having hypotensive actions.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II or III is subjected to intramolecular ring closure in the presence of a dehydrating agent, e.g. dicyclohexylcarbodiimide, in a solvent e.g. methylene chloride, under warming or cooling if necessary, to give the title desired compound of formula I. The compound of formula III can be obtained by treating the reaction product between a compound of formula IV (R3 is amino- protecting group, e.g. tert-butoxycarbonyl group) and a compound of formula V (R4 is protecting group, e.g. tert-butyl group), with a deprotection reagent, e.g. trifluoroacetic acid.
