Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the advance distance of one step by forming an H-shaped assembly by using three piezo-electric laminated bodies which are extended in the direction of lamination by the application of a voltage, and by turning the voltage applied to two laminated bodies on and off for clamping.
CONSTITUTION: Piezo-electric laminated bodies 2, 2a and 3 which can be extended in the direction of lamination, by alternately laminating a many number of piezo- electric elements, which are extended in the direction of thickness by applying a voltage, and electrodes are formed. They are assembled to form an H shape. The piezo-electric bodies 2 and 2a, which are arranged so as to make a right angle with a direct-advance path 17, are opposing each other with a minute gap being provided against side walls 18, and are used for clamp. The piezo-electric body 3 arranged in the longitudinal direction is used for direct advance. To make the step advance in this constitution, a voltage is applied on the piezo-electric laminated bodies for clamp at first, then, a voltage is applied on the piezo-electric body 3 for direct advance. Thereafter, the voltage is applied on the piezo-electric laminated bodies for clamping, then, the previous voltage is cut out, thereby, one step advance can be obtained.
