Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the subject process comprising adding water-soluble high- molecular polysaccharides produced from microbes to waste water containing starchy suspended substances, whereby clean treated water is obtained in a short period of time and a coagulated matter utilizable as a safe feed fertilizer is also obtained.
CONSTITUTION: Water-soluble high-molecular polysaccharides which are fermentative products of microbes such as xanthane gum and the like are added in starchy suspended substances exhausted from mills, breweries and food plants in a quantity of 0.25 to 2.0 % with respect to the suspended substances. Upon this occasion, the pH of the waste water is preferably adjusted to 7 to 8, and alum, slaked lime, low cast bean gum may be used as coagulant aids. This process is excellent in the coagulation effect, and the sedimentation speed of the coagulation matter is quick. Therefore, treated water having a high seeing-through degree can be obtained in a short period of time. Further, separated coagulated matters, when they are used as feed fertilizers, have high safety in the aspect of food sanitation.
