Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a void-less FRP plate, in a short time, by polymerizing a methyl methacrylate syrup impregnated in glass fibers in the presence of dialkyl peroxydicarbonate polymerization initiator, under spacific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A polymerization initiator comprising a di-(3-10C)-alkyl dicarbonate is dissolved in a methyl methacrylate syrup having a rate of polymerization of 15W35 wt%, mainly composed of methyl methacrylate and containing a polyfunctional unsaturated monomer having two or more unsaturated groups, e.g. ethyleneglycol diacrylate, etc. The polymerizable liquid composition thus obtained is impregnated in or mixed with glass fibers, and polymerized under a condition wherein the combination of the molar number of the polymerization initiator per 100 parts by weight of the syrup, and the curing temperature, falls in the pentagon of the figure denoted by A(5×10-5, 90), B(1.5×10-8,90), C(1.5×10-8, 70), D(1.7×10-4, 70) and E(5×10-5, 85).
EFFECT: Excellent crazing resistance and weather resistance.
