Abstract

PURPOSE: A synthetic marble, similar to natural marble in apperance and excellent in scratch resistance, which is obtained by the polymerization of an acrylic resin syrup, with addition of SiO2 powder, in the presence of an organic peroxide and a tertiary amine.
CONSTITUTION: A marbleized product is obtained, by polymerizing (A) an acrylic resin syrup, with addition of 25W70%, based on the total weight of (A) and (B), of (B) SiO2 powder, in the presence of (C) an organic peroxide and (D) a tertiary amine. (A) is an acrylic resin syrup which has a refractive index similar to that of SiO2 powder when polymerized, and preferablly, in particular, a resin liquid of viscosity 2W10 poise, composed of a homopolymer of methyl methacrylate, etc., excellent in transparency, hardness and thermal characteristics. (C) is benzoyl peroxide, etc., and (D) is N,N-dialkyltoluidine, etc.
