Abstract

PURPOSE: To readily and surely detect tramp foreign matter by such things as detecting the behavior sounds of metal particles in ground case by electric power with an ultrasonic wave detecting microphone and displaying the same with a simple type measuring apparatus driven by batteries or the like.
CONSTITUTION: When an insulation type gas is sealed into the tank of ground potential and a high voltage is applied to a high voltage charging part, the foreign matter such as metal particles, etc. entered into a gas tight electric insulation apparatus electrically behaves by the voltage considerably lower than the breakdown voltage of the apparatus. The sounds produced by this behavior are detected with an ultrasonic wave detecting microphone 5, are processed by the amplifier 7 and detector 9 of a simple type ultrasonic wave measuring apparatus 11 driven by batteries and are displayed and directly read with an indicator 10 such as of crest values, means values, etc. In case there are many noises, a band-pass filter is connected between the detector 9 and indicator 10, by which the noises are removed, thus the measurement of the tramp foreign matter may be readily and surely accomplished with the battery-driven portable type measuring apparatus.
