Abstract

PURPOSE: To judge the existence and charactersitics of a trouble, without being influenced by the external vibrations, by converting the ultrasonic waves from a bearing into electric signals with the use of a transducer and by examining the amplitude and shape of the electric signals.
CONSTITUTION: Numeral 1 indicates an electric motor, and the rotor of a ball bearing 2 is supported on an end bracket 3. An ultrasonic transducer 8 uses a piezoelectric element which sensibly responds to the ultrasonic waves of about 50 KHz to 2 MHz. The resultant output is amplified and subjected to impedance conversion by a preamplifier 9. A main amplifier 10 is equipped with an amplifying circuit and a frequency filter. The output is detected by the detecting circuit 111 of a trouble judging circuit 11, and the output voltage is generated, when it reaches a first comparison level, so that a waveform shaping circuit 113 such as a monostable multivibrator is driven to operate a first warning device 121. The low frequency component in the output of the detector 111 is fed through a low-pass filter 114 to a second comparison circuit 115 so that the output is generated, when it reaches the second comparison level, to operate a second warning device 122.
