Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the cooling efficiency of a fuel rod by setting up a slit in a channel box to enable double structure and a check valve in this slit and injecting cooling water inside the core without being affected by rising steam.
CONSTITUTION: The separation wall 3 is set up in the channel box 2 to house the fuel aggregate 1 slightly separated from the outer edge 4 of the aggregate 1 and the slit 5 between the inner surface 6 of the channel box 2 and the separation wall. The check valve 10 is set up in the slit 5 and closes the downward opening end of the channel box 2. The cooling water 8 rising from the lower plenum chamber at stationary operation stops by the check valve 10 and prevents the decrease of the core section ratea flow. At the coolant loss failure, the cooling water 9 enter the slit 5 from the upper plenum chamber and pushes away the check valve 10. A fuel rod can be cooled by entering the cooling water 9 into the core.
