Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize distance measurement for a long period of time under the influence of noise, by measuring the distance between the master station and slave station under water by changing over between the transponder system and Pinger system depending on the noise. CONSTITUTION:According to a specific time signal generated by a time generating circuit 5 of a master station 1 under water, a specific sound wave pulse signal is transmitted from a transmitting circuit 8 and a transmitter 9 through an interface circuit 6, and is received by a receiver 11 of a slave station 2 under water. This reception signal causes a gate 13 to be opened, and the sound wave pulse signal from a pulse generating circuit 15 is transmitted from a transmitter 19 and is received in the master station 1. Thus, the distance between the master station 1 and the slave station 2 is measured by the transponder method. In this case, a gate 17 is closed by the sound wave signal of the circuit 15 through the gate 13 of the slave station 2. On the other hand, when the submarine noise in the vicinity of the slave station is large and the sound wave pulse signal from the master station 1 is not received by the slave station 2 at the specified time, the sound wave pulse signal from the circuit 15 through the open gate 17 is received by the master station 1, so that the distance may be measured for a long period of time under the influence of noise by the Pinger system.
