Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure accurately the position of a moving body, by combining a sound wave transmitter/receiver mounted on the moving body and a fixed sound wave transponder. CONSTITUTION:Sound wave transponders 11-1n receive a sound wave of frequency f0 and transmit the sound waves of frequencies f1-fn respectiveyly. Such transponders are always distributed in <=3 units at different positions where an unmanned car is able to be directly viewed over entire moving range of the unmanned car. On the other hand, a sound wave transmitter 2 and a sound wave receiver 3 which are mounted on the unmanned car transmit the frequency f0 and receives the frequencies f1-fn respectively. These received signals are separated through filters 41-4n respectively, and then the time intervals from transmission to reception are counted by timepieces 51-5n. Then a computer 6 uses the output of three timepieces to calculate the position of the unmanned car. Thus the position of a moving body is accurately measured.
