Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a thin drawn polycarbonate film, by crystallizing a laminate of an undrawn polycarbonate film and an undrawn linear polyester film, followed by drawing the laminate under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: An undrawn linear polyester film, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, is laminated on an undrawn aromatic polycarbonate film, e.g. bisphenol A type, and heat-treated to give a crystallinity of the polyester of 10W50% before, after, or during the lamination. The laminate is then drawn at 130W190°C to give the product of the draw ratios in the longitudinal and lateral directions of 2W16. The lamination is carried out by coextrusion, extrusion laminating, dry laminating, hot- pressing with rolls, etc. The laminate is stripped after drawing, if necessary.
