Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a stable back bead by eliminating welding defectives such as undercut, overlapping with a water cooled copper doubling plate adhering to a backing strip matreial mainly composed of glass fiber on the back of beveling of the base material. CONSTITUTION:Welding is preformed with a water cooled copper doubling plate adhering to a backing strip material mainly composed of a glass fiber arranged on the back of the beveling of a base material. With such a method, welding heat melts the root face of the beveling with the result that melted metal and slag effusing to the back melts the glass fiber moderately. In this manner, a bead with a proper excess metal is formed to protect the surface of the base material. Meanwhile, the water cooling effect of the copper strip 4 promotes the solidification of the metal, thereby minimizing the melted slag effusing to the back. Thus, the generation of undercut due to excess slag can be prevented.
