Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a waste water treating apparatus, in which granular particles attached with microbes or the like are drawn, togeter with a portion of treated waste water, into a tubular body having an opening adjacently of the overflow interface in a treating tank, so as to separate microbes in said tubular body, whereby construction of the apparatus can be simplified and treatment for waste water can be carried out efficiently.
CONSTITUTION: When waste water is treated in treating tank 1, granular particles 10 attached with microbes or the like are floated to the region near the interface. It is detected by interface detecting means 26, and granular particles 10 attached with microbes in the interface region are drawn, along with suction water stream, into water drawing pipe 15 from its opening 16. In the pipe 15, microbes are separated from granular particles 10 by the impulsive force or frictional force of rotable member 21, and microbes thus separated are discharged, together with treated water, to the outside of tank 1 by means of pump 24. On the other hand, specific gravity of granular particles 10 thus removed of microbes is increased, so that they begin to settle in the pipe 15 and are deposited downward from the opening 16 of pipe 15.
