Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate operation of a digestion tank and a sludge dehydration apparatus through a complete removal of dregs and sands from a sludge by means of a screen device and a liquid cyclone provided between a sludge concentration tank and the digestion tank.
CONSTITUTION: A sludge developed in a sedimentation basin or the like is introduced into a sludge concentration tank 5 to be concentrated, and then proceeded to a screen device 9. In the device 9, dregs in the sludge is removed, while the sludge and minute sands pass to a sludge storage tank 10 therethrough. Then, the sludge is introduced into a liquid cyclone 11 through an inlet port 11a. In the cyclone 11, the sands with a greater specific gravity are discharged out from an outlet port 11c while the sludge is swirling. On the other hand, the sludge passing through an outlet port 11b thereof is introduced into the route of a digestion tank 6, a dehydration apparatus 7 and an incinerator 8 for treatment.
