Abstract
PURPOSE: To recover the latent heat of red-hot coke economically and efficiently while preventing carbon solution loss due to the water gas reaction, by means of a dry coke extinguishing and a coal preheating systems circulating independently via a heat exchanger placed between them.
CONSTITUTION: The red-hot coke 2 is fed from the top into the dry coke extinguishing vessel 1, and the inert gas 3 is introduced from its bottom into the vessel. The heat of the coke is transferred to the gas by heat exchange, and the gas is circulated through the heat exchanger 4 as a high-temperature gas. The wet coal 7 is fed to the coal preheating vessel 6, and dried by the cocurrent flow of the high- temperature inert gas 8 after passing through the heat exchanger 4. After the moisture content of the wet coal 7 is dehumidified to some extent by the dehumidifier 9, the inert gas 8 is circulated through the heat exchanger 4. The variation of the inlet temperature of the blowers 5 and 10 caused by the load balance of the systems is controlled by the by-pass valves 11 and 12 to circulate the inert gases 3 and 8 in the respective closed circuits.
