Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve faster and easier measurement by reducing the pressures in plural vessels of known volumes simultaneously then subsequently communicating these vessels to the measuring object.
CONSTITUTION: Vessels 1a thru 1d of known inside volumes, a vacuum pump 2 and the measuring object 7 are connected by way of cocks 5a thru 5e. With all the cocks 5a thru 5f being open, the pressure and temperature of this time are measured with a pressure gauge 3 and thermometer 4, after which the cocks 5a, 5f are closed and the pressures in the vessels 1a thru 1d are suitably reduced by the vacuum pump 2, thence the cock 5e is closed and the pressure and temperature of this time are measured. Thereafter, the cocks 5a thru 5d are closed and the cockds 5a, 5a-5b, 5a-5d are subsequently opened. The pressure and temperatures of these times are measured and the inside volumes having been obtained from the measurement values are averaged, whereby the inside volume of the measuring object 7 is obtained.
