Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound, useful as a reagent, etc., under comparatively low pressure, in high efficiency, by continuously taking out the gaseous product, formed by the high temp. gas-liquid reaction of a liquid lactam with NH3 gas introduced continuously into the lactam, from the reaction vessel.
CONSTITUTION: A monomer, an oligomer, a polymer of lactam, e.g. ε-caprolactam, λ-laurolactam, nylon chips, etc., or their mixture, is maintained in liquid phase in the reaction vessel, and subjected to the gas-liquid reaction at 280W550°C under normal pressure-100 Kg/cm2 while supplying NH3 gas continuously into the reaction vessel to form a product containing ω-aminoalkanonitrile. The product is continuously taken out of the vessel in gas phase to give the objective compound.
EFFECT: The objective compound can be obtained in high yield using a small amount of NH3, minimizing side-reactions and displacing the equilibrium to the preferable direction.
USE: An intermediate of an alkylene diamine which is a raw material of nylon.
