Abstract
PURPOSE: To utilize solar heat as an energy source for heating, etc. without causing corrosion, breeding of algae, etc. by heating regenerative spheres, with the sunlight, each obtd. by filling a medium of a limited m.p. such as fats and oils or wax into a shell made of metal or synthetic resin of a specific softening point.
CONSTITUTION: The inside of 0.5W1 mm thick shell 1 made of material with a softening point above 90°C, e.g. Al, polyethylene or polypropylene is filled with medium 2 with a m.p. of 10W90°C, e.g. fats and oils, wax, hydrocarbons, higher alcolhols, polyols or higher fatty acids such as capric acid and palmitic acid to obtain regenerative sphere 3 of 5W200, pref. 5W20 mm in diameter. Many spheres 3 are arranged in covered container 4 and exposed to the sunlight. Spheres 3 are then fed to heat exchanger 5 filled with a liquid to be heated, to transfer the heat, and they are returned to container 4 with recovery pump 6.
