Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a heat-accumulating material for accumulating waste heat or solar heat which is high in heat-accumulating efficiency and capable of being contacted directly to a liquid heat-transmitting medium, by a method wherein the substance capable of undergoing the phase change is sealed in microcapsules to form particulate matter.
CONSTITUTION: The substance undergoing the phase change in the solid state and the liquid state at a phase change temperature of 20W100°C is sealed in the microcapsules to form the particulate matter, thereby obtaining the heat-accumulating material. The material is packed in a heat-accumulating tank 3 to form a fixed bed 4. The heat-transmitting medium of a high temperature fed from a heat collector 1 is introduced into the tank 3, where it is passed through the fixed bed 4 and is then recirculated to the heat collector 1. In a heat radiating operation, heat-transmitting medium circulated between the tank 3 and a radiator 6 is heated while passing through the fixed bed 4 and then releases its heat at the radiator 6.
