Abstract
PURPOSE: To pervent beforehand the first stage coolant circulation system including the reactor container from the thermal schock by approximately counterbalancing the quantity of infeed coolant to the reactor container with core heat output.
CONSTITUTION: Valve 11 is opened simultaneously with stopping the circulation pump 9 to open bypass pipe 12. The large part of the coolant is flowing through the bypass pipe to circulate. The qantity of coolant flowing into the core 2 within the reactor container is counterbalancing with the heat output of the core 2. Further, the coolant temperature within the reactor container and the coolant temperature within the intermediate heat exchanger 5 are varied gradually and a certain temperature relation is maintained so that the decay heat removal operation by natural circulation after start of supplementary cooling system 30 is proceeded smoothly and rapidly. This allows the core 2 to prevent properly from the critical accident of molten fail and the like.
