Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the axial length of a recycling pump by means of enabling the overflow lines in a reactor vessel to be controllable separately when the reactor is in fuel exchange and when the reactor is in output operation, and of keeping the liquid level within the recycling pump at a low level when the liquid level in the reactor is at a high level.
CONSTITUTION: In a reactor cooling system adopted an elevated place piping arrangement type composed of a reactor vessel 1, a recycling pump 3, and a middle heat exchanger etc., liquid level 25 of coolant at output operation and liquid level 19 at fuel exchange are subjected to be separately controllable, by means of setting up an overflow line 22 with a stop valve 22. The liquid level within the recycling pump 3 is determined by the liquid level 25, because the liquid level at output operation is connected by an equal pressure line 18 of a cover gas. The liquid level within the pump 3 at fuel exchange can make to the same level as the liquid level 13 at output operation, because that the pressure of the cover gas in a pump casing is indipendently controllable by means of closing a stop valve 23 even when the liquid level in the reactor becomes to a high level
