Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase treating efficienty per unit time in gas-refining apparatus and to make the apparatus compact as a whole, by bringing the gas to be treated into contact with NaOH solns. of low and high concentrations in order to remove sulfur, odorous matter, and CO2.
CONSTITUTION: The gas to be treated is fed through a feed pipe 7 to the space above the second chamber (b), where it is brought into contact with conc. NaOH soln. of a pH not smaller than 12, in order to remove sulfuric acid component and odorous component at the highest removing ratio. In the space above the first chamber (a) it is brought into contact with NaOH soln. of a pH 9W11 in order to remove CO2 component at the highest removing ratio. The gas having been treated is discharged through a discharge pipe 8. The NaOH soln. of high concn. is sprayed by a pump P2 through nozzles 9 and accumulates in the second chamber (b) through porous plates 4. The NaOH soln. of low concn. is circulated by a pump P1 in the same way. NaOH soln. of high concn. is replenished through a line 13. The soln. contained in the second chamber (b) is transferred to the first chamber (a) in an amount corresponding to that of replenished soln., and the soln. contained in the first chanber (a) is drawn off in an amount equal to that of transferred soln.
