Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain gypsum of good quality by providing an injection means for washing liquid in a cooling tower, using the same for removal of dust as well, and treating the waste liquid of washing contg. soot from the cooling tower separately from the lime slurry liquid of the absorption tower.
CONSTITUTION: The gas to be treated contg. SOx and soot is scrubbed and captured of soot by the water injected 23 in a dust removing and cooling tower 2; at the same time, the SOx partly reacts with the injected water and forms dilute sulfuric acid. Then, the gas removed of the soot passes through a mist catcher 24 and is introduced into an absorption tower 1, where it makes gas-liquid contact with lime slurry liquid through perforated plates 21 to a clean gas 40 which is released into the atmosphere. The soot removed in the tower 2A is partly supplied to a soot concentrating tank 13 while it is circulated through the tower 2A via a circulation tank 5A, a circulation pump 7, etc., by which it is concd. and the concd. soot is discharged by a pump 14. The supernatant from the tank 13 returns partly into the tank 5A, and is supplied partly to an oxidation control tank 9.
