Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a turbine blade free from stress corrosion cracking by forming a hardened layer as corrosion-proof layer against steam on a steam inlet side tip portion of the turbine blade through irradiation of this portion with a laser beam or the like.
CONSTITUTION: A blade 3 of a rotating turbine blade 1 secured by a blade stem portion 2 to a rotor and is irradiated at its tip portion 5 on the steam inlet side 4 with a laser beam 12 or the like to fuse a surface layer, followed by sudden cooling to form a hardened layer 11 as corrosion-proof layer with respect to steam. In this way, it is possible to dispense with the correction of deformation of the turbine blade 1, so that the number of steps of manufacture can be reduced. In addition, since no residual stress accompanying correction of deformation is produced, the turbine blade is free from stress corrosion cracking during turbine operation. In this case, it is possible to form the hardened layer 11 by adding carbon powder or chromium powder in the fused region, and also an electron beam may be used instead of the laser beam.
