Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent degradation in performance, by coupling the top end portion of the rotor blade and the shroud directly by way of electron beam welding, and thereby increasing the strength at the coupled portions.
CONSTITUTION: The top end portion 23 of the rotor blade 5 where it is held in contact with the shroud 9 is so shaped that the sectional area is increased gradually toward the top, and the top end portion 23 of the rotor blade 5 is fixed to the shroud 9 by way of electron beam welding 25 from the outside of the shroud 9. Unwelded portions 26 located between the top end portion 23 and the inner surface of the shroud 9 are removed by way of grinding after welding. Since the contact area of the top end portion 23 of the rotor blade 5 and the shroud 9 is thus increased, stress can be reduced and strength at the welded portions can be increased. Further, it is enabled to eliminate leakage of steam through the space between the top end portion 23 and the inner surface of the shroud 9 and hence to prevent degradation in performance.
