Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the consumption of the wing tip and to prevent the reduction of turbine-efficiency and the increase of the radiation in the atomic generating plant by providing a boriding process layer at least at the front edge of the steam turbine runner.
CONSTITUTION: A runner body 1 is formed of 12% Cr basic steel of the maltensite system which is commonly used in a conventional steam turbine runner. The runner body 1 is formed at the front edge with a boriding process layer which constitutes an errosion shield portion 2 or jointed with an errosion shield body 3 preliminarily formed with a boriding process layer thereon by soldering an welding 4. Thus constructed turbine runner is difficult to consume due to the errosion accompanying the turbine rotation and prominent in preventing the fall of the turbine efficiency. When used in the steam turbine for boiling water type atomic generating plants, this turbine runner does not increase the radiation in the plant.
