Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture granular material described in the title, excellent in warming property, by rolling particles, which are granulated by, and discharged from, a tray type granulating machine while being sprayed with liq. so as to increase density of surface layer.
CONSTITUTION: Raw material, e.g., alumina, silica, or magnesia etc., is charged from a hopper 2 through a constant-quantity feeder 3 to a tray type granulating maching 4, where it is granulated. The granulated material discharged from the machine is sifted by a vibration screen 6. Coarse grains remained on the metallic net 7 are disintegrated by a disintegrator 9 and are returned to the granulating machine 4, fine particles past the metallic net 8 being returned directly to the granulating machine 4. Granular material of desired particle diameter is fet to a surface-strengthening machine 11, where the material is rolled while water or aq. liquid is poured on the material by means of a liq.-spraying mechanism 12 in order to increase density of the surface layer only of the granular material, and discharged as a product 13. For the surface strengthening machine is used tray type granulating machine, Marumerizer, or rotary drum granulating machine etc.
