Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform dewatering described in the title efficiently and economically, by pouring organic high-polymer flocculant not less than a specific amount excess on the basis of the solid sludge into waste water in order to aggregate and concentrate the sludge through pressure floatation, and by dewatering the concentrated sludge as it is.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of concentration through pressure floatation of organic sludge, e.g., the first-sedimentation-pond sludge, surplus activated sludge formed in organic waste-water-treating plant, or a mixt. of these sludges, a cation polymer, which is an organic high-polymer flocculant, not less than 0.3 wt.% excess on the basis of solid sludge, is poured into the waste water in order to aggregate and concentrate the sludge through pressure floatation. I.e., the cation polymer in an amount more than that used in usual pressure floatation concentration, together with cation polymer which is to be used in dehydration of froth, is poured into the waste water. The froth is dehydrated as it is by means of a suitable dehydrator. Because the froth is not diluted with the cation polymer soln. during dehydration, the dehydrator is operated simply without decline in its capacity.
