Abstract

PURPOSE:To readily perform background correction by providing two kinds of output terminals to the circuit of processing the output of a detector. CONSTITUTION:Two kinds of output terminals are provided to a discrimination circuit 3 which smooths the output of a detector D being a photoelectric multiplier by dividing the same, in a time sharing manner, to the signal corresponding to the light which has passed through a polarizer P2 and the signal corresponding to the light which has passed through a polarizer P3, and are connected to an adder Ad and a subtractor Sb. Then, if switches Sw1, Sw2 are connected to contacts A, A', the output of the adder Ad is compared with a reference voltage in a comparator 4 and the output thereof is converted to a high voltage with a converter 5 and is dinode-fed-back to the detector D, by which the output of the adder Ad is coincided with a reference value, then the output of the subtractor Sub becomes the degree of polarization and this is inputted to a computer CP, whereby the background by the fluorescence of the solvent in the sample cell S is corrected.
