Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to detect easily a distortional component in a television signal, etc., with variable frequency distribution by taking a measurement of only one part of the signal appearing periodically.
CONSTITUTION: A luminance signal applied to terminal 80 has its carrier FM- modulated by modulator 81. This FM-modulated output is added by adder circuit 84 to a color signal from terminal 83 and then amplitude-liminted by limiter 84. The luminance signal from terminal 80 has its horizontal synchronizing signal separated by synchronous separator circuit 43, thereby generating horizontal pulses. Horizontal pulses gate an output from limiter 84 by being supplied to gate circuit 44. By horizontal pulses, converter circuit 45 converts the envelope of the output signal after passing through gate circuit 44 into square-law sine-wave characteristics and the signal is supplied to spectrogram analyzer 46, thereby taking a measurement of the distortion of the signal.
