Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve miniaturization and obtain a large output laser of superior coherence by using integrated semiconductor arrays as an exciting source. CONSTITUTION:Plural semiconductor laser elements 11 are integrated in one sheet of semiconductor wafer to constitute semiconductor laser element arrays 1a, 1b. In each array, p and n are oppositely disposed. These arrays are held in place by heat sinks 2a, 2b and electrodes 12a, 12b are printed on the faces opposing to the arrays to cascade connect the laser elements zigzag. Solid laser materials 3a, 3b having a full reflecting mirror 4a and a semi-transparent mirror 4b are disposed by sandwiching the arrays and the materials 3a, 3b are optically coupled by a coupler 5 to form the resonator. Further the construction of the materials 3a, 3b is improved to allow laser light to be entered without any out it sufficiently be absorbed and cause efficient excitation.
