Abstract
PURPOSE: To simply produce a filter element with high adsorbing performance by forming an anatase type oxide film on the surface of a IVB group metal and converting the film into rutile type one in a non-oxidizing atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: For example, spongy metallic Ti is charged into electric furnace 10 through surface area and wt. measuring device 9 to measure the surface area and wt. According to the measured values, computer 17 determines the specific surface area and the calcination conditions of the Ti, temp. regulator 13 regulates the quantity of electricity of heater 12, and flow control valve 16 adjusts the vol. of air. The calcination temp. is regulated to below 600°C, forming an anatase type oxide film on the surface of the Ti. The Ti is then shifted to electric furnace 18 and heater 19 is regulated by temp. regulator 21 while introducing N2 gas into furnace 18 from N2 gas cylinder 22. The calcination temp. in furnace 18 is regulated to 660W880°C.
