CONSTITUTION:The rolling mill is constituted of the work rolls 5, 6, backup rolls 3, 4 and upper and lower bars 14, 15, for suporting the backup rolls 3, 4, through the metal chocks 9, 10. When the raw material 27 is to be rolled, the backup rolls 3, 4 are moved respectively in the opposite direction along the roll axis, on purpose to adjust the contact length between the backup rolls 3, 4, and work rolls 5, 6. The distribution of rolling load given to the work rolls 5, 6, is canceled by the free end portions of work rolls 5, 6. According to this method, the bending of the work rolls depending on the rolling load can be prevented, so that the thickness in the direction of breadth of the rolled sheet is uniformized.
