Abstract

PURPOSE: To avert the decrease in output and prevent breakdown owing to overloading by series-connecting a plurality of solar battery elements and connecting bypass diodes in parallel with at least one of the element out of these.
CONSTITUTION: Si solar batteries 1 thru 15 are series-connected and outputs are drawn out from the element electrodes positioned at both ends. With such constitution, bypass diodes 1D thru 15D are parallel connected to the elements in which there is possibility of the incident light intensity considerably decreasing as compared with other elements such as the elements positioned on the peripheral parts of the projected light from a light collector. Here, the diodes of small forward voltage drop are used for the diodes and the positive side thereof are connected to the negative side of the solar battery elements or vice versa. Then, even if a situation such as light cutoff occurs in the elements, only a small decrease in output occurs in the device thus sufficient protection function may be provided.
