Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the detecting error of passing time, which may take place when the optical intensity is varied, by arranging two optical detectors to take out the differential component between respective output signals so that the intersecting positions of the two output signals may be recognized.
CONSTITUTION: Two optical detectors 16 and 17 are arranged in the vicinity in an optical scanning path. The outputs after the lights from the detectors are scanned by a deflector 4 are generated with a suitable expansion in the diameter of the optical beams and with the differential operations and are converted into binary outputs by menas of a comparator. Thus, even if the optically detected outputs are reduced, it is possible to accurately read out the time, when the optical point passes through the middle point of the two optical detectors, by setting the threshold value of the comparator in the vicinity of the value of 0.
