Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a fluorescent lamp wherein an electron radiating substance essentially composed of barium carbonate, strontium carbonate, and calcium carbonate is subjected to pylolytic activation by dividing the same into the former stage part and the latter stage part of the heating and degassing steps of the fluorescent body, thereby to reduce the quantity of barium.
CONSTITUTION: An electron radiating substance essentially composed of ternary carbonates in which molar ratio of barium, strontium and calcium is applied to double coil filaments in the quantity of about 60 mg. The electrodes thus applied with the electron radiating substance are sealed to both ends of a 40W lamp tube. The thus prepared fluorescent lamp is fitted to an exhaustion device, and the exhaustion of the lamp tube is started through a heating furnace to carry out the exhaustion of gas within the fluorescent body. Five seconds after the start of exhaustion and five seconds before leaving the furnace, a current is carried to the filament coils, thereby to carry out pylolytic activation treatments of said coils for 15 seconds and 8 seconds, respectively, to form the electrodes into oxidide electrodes.
