Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the catalytic activity of an exhaust gas treatment catalyst for selective catalytic reduction denitration in production of the catalyst using a calcium silicate molding as carrier by dipping the carrier in water to remove the free alkali component and then supporting active metals.
CONSTITUTION: A calcium silicate molding is dipped in water to remove the free alkali component and oxides or sulfates of metals such as Fe, Cr, Mn, Ni and V, and vanadyl sulfate are supported to obtain a catalyst for removing NOx in exhaust gas in the presence of a reducing agent such as NH3. The calcium silicate carrier is produced by subjecting an aq. slurry of silicic acid and lime optionally mixed with inorg. additives such as clay, asbestos and glass fiber to hydrothermal synthetic reaction and crystallization under a press. of about 5W20 kg/cm2 with stirring at 200W300°C. The resulting slurry of calcium silicate crystals is then press molded to a desired thickness and dried
