Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide low noise, high output and high resolution by forming intermediate plating layers of non-magnetic Ni-Sn alloy prior to performing magnetic plating on polished underlying plating layers thereby oroducing the high recording density magnetic disc.
CONSTITUTION: Therating films 2 of about 0.5μ in thickness by zinc immersion treatment, copper strike plating layers 3 of about 4μ in thickness and underlying plating layers 4 composed of copper-tin alloy are laminated on a magnetic disc blank 1 which is made of corrosion-resistant aluminum and has flat surfaces. After the disc blank is heat treated for about 1 hour at about 320°C, the srufaces of the underlying plating layers 4 are smoothed by mechanical polishing. Next, intermediate plating layers 5 by Ni-Sn alloy of about 0.1μ in thickness at pH 2.2 to 2.5 are formed by using the plating bath of the composition comprising NH4F.HF: 35 (g/l, hereinafter the same), NaF; 28, SnCl22H2O;50, NiC12.6H2O; 300, after which magnetic plating layers 6 and protecting films 7 are laminated thereon
