Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for protection film on the magnetic plating film of a magnetic disc and reduce the adhesion to magnetic head by providing the magnetic plating film on the specific non-magnetic plating film dispersed with abrasion- resistance fine particles.
CONSTITUTION: After pretreatment such as alkaline degreasing and pickling is applied to a metal substrate 1 such as of Al, a non-magnetic Ni film 3 containing Al2O3 fine powder 12 of 1 to 3μ in particle size is formed to about 20 to 30μ in thickness by an electroless plating or electroplating method. Next, the surface of the film 3 is so smoothly polished that part of the fine particle 2 protrudes from the surface of the film 3. Next, the pretreatment such as alkaline degreasing and pickling is applied to the film 3, after which a magnetic plating film 4 is electroplated. At this time, the film 4 deposits only on the surface of the conductive film 3 and the fine particles 2 protrude from the surface of the film 4. Because of this, a magnetic head 5 does not contact the film 4 and abrasion is seldom observed.
