Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a seam having a reduced gradient of unnecessarily high order over a wide range by additionally interposing a pair of auxiliary coils between opposed concentric coils for a current seam for compensating the magnetic field distribution in a magnetic resonance device.
CONSTITUTION: There are provided inside of a pair of opposed magnetic poles M and M' coils E0 and E0, of a C-shaped seam for compensating the round magnetic field of second order, which is located about the coils M and M', such that the magnetic field generated has not gradient of fourth order but gradients of second and sixth orders. There are also provided inside of the coils E0 and E0, coils F0 and F0, for auxiliary seams which are concentric to but have a smaller radius than the C seam coins E0 and E0 and which have no gradient of fourth order. If a reverse current to that flowing through the coils E0 and E0 is supplied, the gradient of the magnetic field of an order higher than sixth order is compensated so that the compensated gradient of second order becomes substantially equal over a wide range.
