Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the breakaway and damage of an fusion layer in an in-use time by connecting the fusion layer to the base body hermetically and tightly by heating W on the base body up to a fusion temperature by making use of lase light.
CONSTITUTION: On the base body of Mo or the like, beheading cone surface 1a is formed and paste-like metal powder is applied onto surface 1a to form intermediate layer 3. Then, it is heated by a laser up to a temperature around the melting point of the metal powder to improve the dunsity of the powder. Next, the powder paste of W or W alloy is either applied onto surface 1a or compressed into a ring shape on surface 1a. Then, layer 3 and surface 1a are heated by the laser up to 3400°C or more to be fused and then cooled, and reflective layer 2 is provided, thereby obtaining a target. In this constitution, since W is fused once to increase the density of the irradiation layer and its strength increases as well as adhesion, no breakaway and overheating of the irradiation layer occurs even if being used for a long time, so that long life can be obtained
