Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the moisture resistance of the liquid crystal cell sealed by epoxy resin base bonding agent by beforehand providing the paint film of specific phenolic resin or amimo resin on the sealed part of substrate surfaces.
CONSTITUTION: Phenolic resin or amino resin of more than 70 dyn/cm in sarface tension is coated evenly in solution form on the surfaces, provided with transparent electrodes, of two sheets of substrates, at least one whereof is transparent, whereby the resin paint film of thicknesses 0.01 to 10μm is formed through heat-setting treatment. Next, epoxy resin base bonding agent is coated on the resin coating of the sealed part of the circumferential edges of the substrates, leaving the liquid crystal sealing port. Thereafter, both substrates are opposedly held by maintaining a spacing and are bonded by heat setting of the bonding agent. Liquid crystal is sealed in this cell and its sealing port is sealed
