Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a method of controlling discharge of rain water, in which concentration of oxygen dissolved in sewage is measured, and when the value of the measured concentration is larger than a predetermined reference value, a portion of the sewage is discharged directly to rivers, whereby load of public sewerage system can be lowered to a great extent.
CONSTITUTION: When "rainfall" signal 21 is given from rainfall detecting end unit 11 to starting unit 12, start signal 22 is given to dissolved oxygen concentration meter 13 and flow meter 14. Value 23 indicating concentration of oxygen dissolved in sewage and flow rate 24 of the sewage, thus measured, are sent to oprational unit 15, whereas amount 25 of the dissolved oxygen measured is sent to judging unit 16, where it is compared with degree of change in the amount of dissolved oxygen which is pre-stored in the unit 16, and time for sending start signal 26 is judged. In response to this start signal 26, control unit 17 starts operation of rain-water discharging pump 19 and starts discharging of rain water. When flow rate 24 becomes lower than a predetermined value, stop signal 27 is given from judging unit 16 to control unit 17 to stop discharging of rain water. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to control discharge of rain water in the manner lowering the load of discharging rain water to rivers to a great extent
