PURPOSE:To obtain pyrolytic graphite lump having wide vertical plane against to c plane of pyrolytic graphite as an unified structure, by introducing hydrocarbon in a non-oxidative atmosphere onto graphite separating substarates having substrate planes and multiple graphite thin plates extending from the substrate planes in its vertical direction, and heating them. CONSTITUTION:Multiple pyrolytic graphite thin plate (thickness 1mm.) 2 are arranged on graphite plate 1 to make a graphite separating substrate.
