Abstract
PURPOSE: Welded joint structure, so as not to concentrate a high stress and strain at weld zone having a low strength, by preliminary welding the short tube having the same thickness to that of elbow on the tip part of piping and welding the elbow and piping making them the same thickness.
CONSTITUTION: Edge preparation of the tip end of the thick elbow 2 is carried out at the original thickness as it is and on the one hand, the short tube 7 having the same thickness to that of the elbow, is preliminary welded to the tip end of straight tube and also, edge preparation is carried out being the elbow 2 and the tube 7 in the state of the same thickness and then, both are welded. Accordingly, the elbow 2 and the tube 7 are smoothly joined without making discontinuous shape at the situation of the welded joint 6 and the burden given on the piping system is not concentrated on the joint 6 because the sectional area of the weld metal 6 is large enough. Generating stress at the metal 6 is small and the strength is guaranteed. Also, concentration of stress by heat stress or outer burden, is nearly none because the discontinuous part of shape is formed at the weld zone 8 in the straight tube part.
