Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an Al wire with enhanced heat resistance used for overhead power transmission by manufacturing a predetermined Al rough wire by continuous casting and rolling after which the rough wire is heated under specific conditions, water cooled, cold drawn, and subjected to predetermined stabilization treatment. CONSTITUTION:99.6-99.85% Al metal is cast into ingot D by a continuous casting machine composed of belt wheel A, cast wheel B and belt C, and rolled by rolling mill F to obtain a rough wire having tensile strength of 12-16kg/mm.<2> at ordinary temp. The rough wire is then heated by heater E at 550-640 deg.C for 0.2- 2sec, immediately water cooled by cooler G, and rolled round reelI. Thereafter, predetermined cold drawing is carried out and stabilization treatment at 150-230 deg.C for 0.2sec-6hr is further carried out if necessary. By this method an Al electric wire is obtd. having enhanced heat resistance and superior characteristics such as tensile strength and elongation.
